Monroe

To the editor:

The entire staff of the Monroe Virtual High School and the school board and administration of the Monroe School District deserve our respect and gratitude for the difficult and amazing work they do.

Recently a young friend received his diploma from the Virtual High School at its graduation ceremony. He has lived with difficulties and challenges and was struggling with school. The Virtual School folks recognized his potential and supplied him with the means and the encouragement and respect he needed. He finished high school in January, joined the National Guard and completed basic and infantry training June 1. He has been accepted at a college in St. Paul and will begin his studies there in August. None of this would have been possible if the Virtual School had not been here to help him.

The Virtual School is a first-class example of "Preparing for the Future, One Child at a Time." Our community and our state are very lucky and privileged to have access to the excellent, nontraditional education offered by the Monroe Virtual School. May God bless each person involved with this extraordinary school.
