Democrats are going to have to start acting like Democrats. They're going to have to tell us voters how they're going to pay for their big ideas. That is, they're going to have to raise the federal income tax to a higher bracket like President Clinton did, which all the Republicans in Congress voted against because they said it would ruin the economy. Well, they were wrong. It got better and we had surpluses, as far as the eye can see when President Clinton left office.
Another way would be President Obama following through and taxing the hedge fund dealers like he said he was going to do. Since this army of hedge fund dealers make billions of dollars a year, they should pay federal income tax at a rate of 35 percent rather than the 15 percent they're currently paying taxes at. President Obama should replace Federal Reserve Chairman Bernanke with Kansas City Fed President Thomas Hoeing. He should get rid of his attorney general, because he didn't seem any more intelligent than the ones President Bush was hiring. Both of them should have done something long before now, then our housing crisis wouldn't have been as bad as it finally got and just about overnight. If you think I am kidding, read all the books from various authors about our banking crisis and how investment bankers were driving out the small commercial banks. Movies are even being made about them.
If you're going to have a fair taxing system, you have to have a fair legal system. Get rid of the loopholes that allow people to hide assets offshore. People are getting mad because in a lot of cases, their home values are going down while their property taxes are going up. If the media doesn't get out and do a better job of explaining about our economy and why we're so far in debt and going down, they're going to be replaced by Facebook. It does almost have a better source of two-way communication and being world-wide at the same time.
It'll be interesting if President Obama doesn't come up with some better ideas in how to pay for the huge responsibility that he has that maybe somebody should run against him in the primary. Fair taxes should be based on ability to pay and a fair banking system should reinstate the Glass-Stegall Act.
Democrats, wake up.
