From Susie Speer

Executive Director, United Way of Green County, Inc.

As our economy has struggled dramatically over the past three years, people in Green County have faced unprecedented financial hardships. During that time the United Way has provided over $700,000 in funding to assist families and individuals in our community. This could not have been done without you. Your generous contributions have made it possible for the United Way to provide this much needed help for area residents.

You are the United Way and your contributions are helping families and individuals throughout Green County. You are helping families avoid eviction, providing free food that allows those at risk to put more money toward rent and making financial counseling and referral services available to help people who are struggling to find their footing again. You are helping to provide home delivered meals to our aging and disabled population, free dental care for youth in need, tutors for adults learning to read, mentors for youth at risk and shelter, counseling and advocacy for victims of abuse as well as prevention education programs designed to identify and break the cycle of relationship violence early in life.

The United Way is not about the money we raise; it's all about the help that people receive in our community because of the money we raise. The United Way is about working to improve lives and to strengthen our community. To do that, we not only provide funding for important local programs, we also work to provide opportunities for local agencies to work together to both identify and to solve community problems more effectively and more efficiently.

The United Way is a local organization, driven by area residents and business people. When you contribute to the United Way of Green County, you can be sure that 98.8 cents of every dollar stays in Green County to help people here.

If you have already made your tax-deductible contribution to the United Way this year, we thank you. If you have not we hope that you will consider contributing to the United Way today.
