Green Haven Family Advocates, Inc.
Education. Advocacy. Support. Service. These are the words that guide of the work of Green Haven Family Advocates, Inc. We have had an extraordinary year. We have provided service to an ever increasing number of families: Green County residents who are seeking safety from domestic and intimate partner violence. We have seen the faces of domestic violence in the legal system and read of tragedies in local newspapers.
Domestic violence survivors face extremely difficult decisions. If they are courageous enough to leave their abusers, they will be facing an economy with few housing and employment options. We know that many victims do not leave, despite great physical and psychological risk to themselves and their children, because they fear that they will not be able to get jobs that will support their families. As a community, we should not abandon these victims. We should be strengthening the ability of agencies to help them, rather than closing yet one more door in their faces.
Green Haven is one of 27 non-profit agencies supported by funding from the United Way of Green County. This support is invaluable to our agency, and we would like to take this opportunity, in this season of caring, to thank those who have given to the United Way campaign this year. And, in this season of giving, we would also like to ask everyone to support the United Way of Green County. This should, hopefully, be an easy decision for you.
