Turmoil at both fed, state levels

We have real turmoil going on in politics at the federal, as well as at the state level. It's almost like baking bread. What mix will work the best to get a successful conclusion? The Republican primary has one candidate that I would favor, even though I'm an Independent who leans toward Democratic because they do believe in taxing on ability to pay. If I was to vote Republican, my choice would be Jon Huntsman from Utah because he's the only candidate that didn't sign the Grover Norquist pledge which was not to tax the richest 1 percent at higher income tax rate and some even wanted to lower the top rate, putting more burden eventually on the property tax which pays for most of our public services.

Since the president has to have a cabinet, I'd have Ron Paul at Treasury because he calls derivatives "funny money" which would be a good way of straightening out our questionable investment banking system that wants to pretend they are part of the stock market when they should be separate. That's why we have the richest 1 percent making huge amounts of money in banking, while the rest of us can hardly get half a percent on a one-year CD at the bank.

The conservatives keep telling us we should save, which I agree they are right but what the government should first do is reinstate the Glass-Steagall Act, which separated the commercial banks from the investment banks and the stock market.

Once this is done, we'll have to turn our interest to state problems and the most important would be the present recall of our governor, Scott Walker. I read a wonderful article from the Janesville Gazette that a friend gave me written by Rick Horowitz titled "Barking Up the Wrong Fruit in Wisconsin's Recall Issue" in the Dec. 23 paper. It's interesting because like he said, the Republicans said the Democrats just have "sour grapes" concerning the governor and the Democrats said no. It's more like the governor is a lemon and if you bought a car under the lemon law, you have a right to take it back. It's a wonderfully-written article. Humorous and truthful and it all comes down to the fact that your right to vote is important and you should take it really serious and look over both sides of an issue before you vote.
