Help is closer than you think. 211 is a free, confidential service that is available anytime, day or night. It connects individuals and families to community resources, including mental health services, housing assistance, food pantries, and more. Whether someone is feeling overwhelmed, searching for a counselor, or unsure where to turn, 211 is a compassionate and knowledgeable guide to local services.

211 resources are available by phone, text, or online. Calling 211 from any phone connects individuals to trained specialists who are ready to listen and help. The specialists who staff the helpline can help you find services that fit your needs. For those who prefer texting, send your ZIP code to 898-211 to start a chat. Online access is also available through 211wisconsin.org or the national site 211.org. These options ensure that help is always within reach, regardless of a person’s comfort level or communication preferences.

Green County Public Health and the Green County Mental Health Matters Coalition are promoting this important resource because addressing Mental Health in Green County is one of our top priorities. Recent data from the County Health Rankings and Roadmaps shows that adults in Green County report poor mental health about 5.4 days each month. We also know that 1 in 5 adults in Wisconsin experiences mental illness each year. That’s why we’re working to make sure everyone knows about 211. It’s a helpline that connects people to mental health services like counseling, therapy, crisis support, substance use treatment, psychiatric care, and community programs. 211 can help bridge the gap, so individuals can find the resources, services, and care they need.

211 can also connect individuals with other community services. If someone needs help paying rent, finding a food pantry, getting help with bills, or looking for childcare, 211 can point them in the right direction. It also provides support for older adults, veterans, people with disabilities, and families experiencing hard times. With resources like 211 available anytime, getting connected to help is just a phone call, text, or click away.

In a time when mental health concerns are increasingly prevalent and often stigmatized, making support visible and accessible is one way Green County Public Health and our Mental Health Matters Coalition are addressing these community needs and concerns.

In Green County, no one has to face these challenges alone. If you or someone you know needs help, call, text, or visit 211 today.
