The Green County Healthy Community Coalition’s annual wellness week “Let’s Get Moo-ving Green County” is back this year! After taking a hiatus in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this highly anticipated event is back for 2021 — happening May 10th through the 16th.

Let’s Get Moo-ving Green County (LGMGC) Wellness Week is for all companies and community members of Green County. Each individual is encouraged to accumulate at least 150 minutes of physical activity throughout the week (around 22 minutes each day). The purpose is to encourage incorporating physical activity into our daily routines, encourage healthy lifestyle habits, and build awareness of all the great resources Green County has to offer!

LGMGC is a friendly competition among organizations in Green County. All participating Green County businesses will be divided into one of five categories based on active employee count. Champions will be determined by who has the highest percentage of team members to achieve at least 150 minutes of physical activity throughout the week. Winners will be recognized in various ways throughout Green County!

This event first began in the spring of 2017 making this the 4th year of this weeklong event. It was started by the CHIP (Community Health Improvement Plan) Physical Activity Subcommittee of the Green County Healthy Community Coalition to encourage Green County residents and workers to strive for the recommended 150 minutes of exercise weekly for the many optimal health benefits it provides. The committee has continued to organize this event since 2017 and each year it has gotten bigger with the same goal to promote healthy lifestyles and expose everyone to all the recreational opportunities Green County has to offer.

Each year as a part of the event, several fun exercise opportunities and special offerings are provided throughout the week by local fitness organizations and professionals across the county. This year participants can expect virtual Zumba, PiYo, and yoga classes, as well as scavenger hunts and exercise BINGO.

Physical activity is essential for good health. You can help increase physical activity for your employees or co-workers which helps improve the physical and mental health of your those at your organization, reduce absences, and increase productivity.

Be sure to “like” the Green County Healthy Community Coalition Page on Facebook and encourage your participants to do so as well! Updates and event reminders will be provided throughout the week!

We’re looking forward to MOOOOVING with you!
