How Could a MHS LAUNCH Student Team Help You?

As we gear up for a new school year, Monroe High School is happy to announce that we have more students than ever who have signed up to be part of the LAUNCH program. The LAUNCH program, now in its third year, continues to grow. With nearly 80 juniors and seniors and another new topic area, we’re looking forward to a great year of providing a project-based learning experience for our students, allowing them to serve community needs!

With all of this growth, we are looking for more ways our students can help local businesses and organizations come up with solutions for their stickiest problems.

How can we help you?

Think about some projects on your organization’s “to do” list that aren’t a number one priority. Are there items on that list that are important, but don’t get done due to lack of time, data or expertise? Take a look at items seven through nine on your list. Could a team of 3-4 students tackle that item in eight to ten weeks? Or if the project is bigger than that, could it be split into more than one project?

Think about questions you and others have had during team or board meetings. Do you have problems or projects that don’t already have a clear solution? Do you need more data to make a decision? Do you need to review your own data to get to the root of an issue? Do you need to refresh your website or social media presence? Do you want to encourage better health habits for your employees or members? Our students will be well-equipped with problem-solving skills and a great ability for new idea development.

What do we need from you?

The only cost to your business or group is time to meet with students to provide information and answer questions. Project coaches meet regularly with their student project team throughout the trimester (approximately one hour per week for 8 to 10 weeks). Coaching may take place in-person or through online meetings.

What areas of expertise are available?

Our 2024-2025 topic areas include Business Analytics, Media Solutions, Behavioral Health, Healthcare Solutions (NEW), and Skilled Building Trades.

Business Analytics

Business Analytics students learn how to capture and analyze data to inform decision making. They can improve and build online databases and make recommendations regarding things like product offerings, shipping efficiencies or customer experience.

Media Solutions

Media Solutions students will develop skills in graphic design, photography, videography, audio, social media, graphic web design and digital technologies. They will evaluate and recommend effective strategies for promotion of businesses and events.

Behavioral Health

The Behavioral Health strand is geared toward designing innovative solutions to promote mental health and wellness for individuals and our community. Students will investigate a variety of interventions involved in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of mental health issues.

Healthcare Solutions

The NEW Healthcare Solutions strand will combine CNA training with an Anatomy and Physiology course. Our students are looking for projects that deal with human body mechanics. Some examples include: creating exercise videos appropriate for clientele, creating training videos for training your employees on specific tasks, creating instructional videos regarding body mechanics (i.e. how to lift a heavy box, walking on ice), or creating information (brochure, video, etc.) on what to expect pre-op or post-op.

Skilled Building Trades

The Skilled Building Trades strand will be working with Green County Development Corporation’s Home Construction Cooperative to build a new house. Students will learn the construction and math skills needed in carpentry, plumbing and electrical construction projects. No additional community projects are needed for this strand.
