Green County has a unique opportunity to learn from those who have done the work of cultivating positive, long-lasting community change with the Pulling Together book tour coming to Green County on Friday, October 10th.
Tom Mosgaller — a progressive organizer, and Mike Breininger — a conservative pastor, have built a framework for driving community change. The authors share a vision for stronger communities, emphasizing the power of love, trust, and relationships. Each chapter of the book brings real-life stories, actionable steps, and activities together to help the reader reflect, engage others, and expand individual impact.
Pulling Together: A Handbook for Community Change is more than just a book — it’s a call to action. Designed for local leaders, organizers, and everyday citizens, this practical guide offers tools and real-world examples to inspire and guide community transformation. With a focus on collaboration, shared leadership, and long-term impact, the book reflects decades of experience in rural development, philanthropy, and community building.
In addition, keynote speaker and book contributor Jeff Yost, will join the authors on this tour. As the President and CEO of the Nebraska Community Foundation (NCF), Jeff has helped redefine what’s possible for rural communities. Under his leadership, NCF has empowered communities across Nebraska to embrace local leadership, retain wealth, and invest in their futures. Jeff will deliver the event’s keynote address, sharing insights from the book, real stories from the field, and a compelling vision for building stronger, more vibrant communities — together.
Green County Development Corporation, the Community Foundation of Southern Wisconsin, and the UW Extension Green County have partnered to bring this book to Green County with two scheduled events.
