Have you ever been to an event in America where the National Anthem was booed? I have, at the Tea Party Rally in Madison on Saturday, April 16. When they played the National Anthem and the people around me started booing and blowing their horns, I didn't know what to do. Should I scream back at them to stop? Didn't they know that brave men and women had carried that flag into battle so that they had the freedom to protest? Or should I cry? I did neither.
I was pushed, shoved and kicked. I had people screaming in my face, cursing me and one man even called me a rat, just because I carried a sign that said "Scott Walker for Governor." No one should have to endure the harassment and humiliation that I endured last Saturday. We need to stop this madness. You may not agree with me, and I might not agree with you. But we should respect the other person's opinion, not cause them harm. I call on all my conservative and liberal friends to put a stop to this hatred before we lose the very thing that makes Wisconsin great.
