Monroe
I would like to take this time to write a letter of appreciation and recognition for our hard-working individuals at the Monroe public swimming pool and their peers: Barb Moser and Marge Klinzing. These people are the best group of lifeguards I've been privileged to be a witness to. Their first names are: Sydnee, Linda, Brianna, Abby, Danielle, Randi, Mitch, Liz, Jolene, Mike, Brianna, Cassie, Tyler, Katie, Kendall, Bryan, Kasie, Kylie, Paige, Logan, Kyle and Eric. (If I omitted someone, I'm sorry.) I was honored to get to know them personally ... they help people; they go the extra mile with caring in their hearts. I have many examples of their dedication. One in particular was: A young girl got disoriented and got separated from her mother. The day was very warm and the pool was crowded. Over all the pool noise, one guard heard the distraught young child. She was getting too close to deeper waters. The guard blew her whistle and gave knowledge to her other fellow guards she would be leaving her post. The guard reunited mother and daughter with search and rescue attempts. It was wonderful to see. I went up to the guard afterward and told her what a great and admirable job she did. Not only did the guards do many great things, their job of watching swimmers was superb. A sign of a good guard is scanning (constant moving of their heads). They also were friendly to everyone in every age group and every shift, no matter what the time. This Sunday, Aug. 29, will be the last day of the pool. I will be sad to see that and as luck has it, the weather will probably turn hot again. Thank you, Parks and Recreation, for all the pleasant memories and thank you, Monroe life guards.
