Irish eyes were smiling on us all, Wednesday, March 17, for Main Street's St. Patrick's Day parade. Each year we have seen the parade grow as local businesses, organizations, school groups and families have joined in the celebration of the Irish heritage. This year, we were honored to have the Cheese Days Ambassador and many area Dairy Queens participate.
Also new this year we were able to award prizes for best entries into the parade.
A special thank you to our two judges that had to make some tough decisions.
This years winners were, first place, Brennan's/ St. Victors School; second place was a tie with the Green County Humane Society and the Monroe High School Barbershop Boyz; and honorable mention went to The Gavigan Clan.
We thank everyone who participated in the parade or came out to celebrate the Irish heritage and made it a great day for all. A big thanks you to the street department, Monroe Police Department, the Monroe Middle School and Monroe High School Honor Society.
