Snowmobile courses and free trail maps

The snow is falling, which means it's time to bring out the snowmobiles.

Over the past 25 years, Wisconsin has developed an unparalleled system of snowmobile trails. We have more than 25,000 miles of top-quality trails that link every corner of the state. The trails, which are well-marked and carefully groomed by local snowmobile clubs, provide users with unbeatable access to Wisconsin's exquisite winter scenery.

That being said, I hope everyone is aware of the great safety and mechanics courses provided by the state of Wisconsin to snowmobilers. For information on how to register, visit www.awsc.org/safety.htm or contact the DNR South Central Region Headquarters at (608) 275-3266.

Finally, anyone interested in receiving a free map of state snowmobile courses can contact my office toll-free at 1-888-534-0051 or Rep.Hilgenberg@legis.wi.gov.

Stay safe on the trails this year and have a great time.
