I was particularly offended by Paul Ryan's response to President Obama's budget speech.
Ryan said it was "excessively partisan." By contrast, his own budget repeats the GOP mantra of ever more tax cuts for corporations and the wealthy.
Ryan said it was "dramatically inaccurate." The GOP budget suggests that popular social programs are the cause of all our budget problems, not the unfunded Bush era wars and Medicare drug benefits, nor inadequate financial regulations coupled with Wall Street greed.
Ryan said it was "hopelessly inadequate." Rather, that would describe the protection available to people after the GOP's proposed Medicare and Medicaid cuts.
In Ryan's view (mirroring the writing of Ayn Rand), only the wealthy elite are deserving. All others are merely here to serve their needs. So much for "of the people, by the people, and for the people."
