Ringhand now has a different tune

In 2008, current State Assembly candidate Janis Ringhand published an editorial in this very newspaper titled: "Amazing Coincidence or Outright Deception?" In the article, Ringhand says she is shocked at the presence of third-party interest groups in politics, and questions how candidates could ever let their dirty work be done by another group. When she wrote this, Ringhand was serving as treasurer for the losing 2008 State Assembly District 80 candidate. (This after already having made two failed attempts at the seat herself.)

Well, she's back for a third try. Ringhand is again running for the 80th District seat, and curiously, seems to be singing quite a different tune when it comes to special-interest groups. This past week, the powerful liberal group "Greater Wisconsin Committee" began running ads and sending out fliers attacking Ringhand opponent, Mr. Dan Henke. Not surprisingly, these ads are full of twisted facts and blatant misstatements. Yet, we hear nothing from Ringhand. No protest, no call for these ads to be stopped, not a single word. In fact, her recent campaign mailings borrow from many of the Greater Wisconsin talking-points. I call on Janis Ringhand to immediately denounce these ads, as she has done in the past, and not let her own dirty work be done by anyone else.
