I recently read a piece of Dan Henke for Assembly's campaign literature. I always research candidates, so I started reading up on Mr. Henke. On taxes and spending: Mr. Henke's record doesn't match up to his rhetoric. He claims to be in favor of lower taxes, but as Monroe City Council president voted to raise taxes on middle class families and small businesses. During his time on the Monroe City Council, property taxes went up 5.8 percent. Mr. Henke's record of raising taxes and fiscal mismanagement is a cost, an expense to small businesses and middle class families.

Then I hear the radio ad from Henke's camp stating Janis Ringhand raised taxes in Evansville by 40 percent. Everyone who heard that should have immediately realized what a bold face lie that is. There would be no Evansville if that was the case. And, I have seen property tax statements from folks in Evansville showing taxes are less now than four years ago.

We need Janis Ringhand representing the 80th Assembly District. She will work for us, and with us, not against us. There are lots of things that frustrate us in government right now, but complaining isn't going to fix anything, we need to take action and vote. I am voting Janis Ringhand on Nov. 2. Do your research, vote Janis Ringhand.
