From Linda Faessler, Juda

I am appalled by the response and the delays by the Juda School Board, regarding a $2000 donation. I'm also very angry that a tree donated was turned down and had to be planted somewhere else in Juda, according to the Times article. All this because the tree and money are attributed to a child who committed suicide. Juda Board, you should be ashamed of yourselves.

I don't know the child or family of the suicide victim, but the community came together to raise money for the school children and to be now turned away and shunned is so disrespectful. The Juda School Board has perpetuated the stigma and shame associated with suicide instead of using this as an educational opportunity to prevent further suicides from occurring with our community members.

I would bet the local chapter for NAMI would graciously accept the donation and use it to help others struggling with clinical depression. By golly, I bet they would even be more than happy to send a speaker from their organization to address the school board on the issues of depression and suicide.
