Obama the answer on renewable energy

When it comes to our nation's energy policy, the choices we make in November will shape the next decade.

We have the resources, technology and ingenuity in America right now to break our dependence on foreign oil. We can do it in a sustainable, environmentally friendly way that creates jobs at home and grows our economy.

But for decades, Big Oil and the politicians they fund have joined forces to stack the deck against renewable energy. Sensible policies that promote renewable energy, like tax incentives for wind turbines and solar panels, level the playing field and push America toward the tipping point between energy dependence and independence.

Yet if Senator McCain has his way, the incentives that allow us to increase renewable energy production will vanish, as will thousands of green jobs. During his time in the Senate, McCain has voted against renewable energy 23 times. And you won't even find reference to it in his energy plan.

Eight years of oil men in the White House have led us here: $4 gasoline, rising home heating and cooling costs, and economic disarray. John McCain promises more of the same. He even offers $4 billion in tax breaks to Big Oil.

The American economy, our security, and our environment are too important to let our next president give up on renewable energy. Barack Obama has a clear record and strong commitment to providing renewable energy for America. It's time for a real leader in the White House to bring the kind of change we need and new energy for America.
