To the Editor:
An interesting contest is developing for the county board seat in Monroe’s 7th district.
In my opinion, two things are required to be a good county supervisor. One is common sense and the other is an awareness of whom you are representing. Both candidates are qualified. It is intriguing to me that the comments and statements about the candidates seem to tap-dance around the basic difference between the two participants. It appears to me that Carus is liberal and Webber is conservative.
Let me remind voters of some current liberal ideas. People crossing the border illegally are to be catered to at various locations around the country. Killing an unborn child is a woman’s health issue. Alternative history is a good plan for schools. Competing in sports depends on your gender preference. Proper pronoun usage for everyone is an important part of gender ideology. These concepts are popular in Madison.
Conservatives have different concerns. They cling to a literal interpretation of the constitution and believe God should be part of government. Abortion is a bad idea. Responsible gun ownership is a right for all citizens. Schools should emphasize the basics, reading, writing, and arithmetic and not worry about what type of bathroom is appropriate. Most likely they support Trump for President.
Because I do not know either candidate personally, I do not know the extent of their passion on any particular issue. It is safe to say the attitude each brings to the table will be a reflection of their background.
So there you have it. Webber is conservative and Carus is liberal. Now cast your vote accordingly on April 2.
