To the Editor:
I strongly support the Monroe School District referendum because I believe investing in our schools is investing in the future of our community.
I’ve lived in Monroe for 35 years. My family raised our daughter here, and she graduated from the Monroe School District. Because of the opportunities Monroe provided, she was able to participate in high school tennis, take advanced German coursework, and even travel to Germany. Those experiences helped shape her future, and her strong Monroe transcripts helped her earn admission to a great and respected University.
I’ve worked in school districts across Wisconsin as a pupil services director, and I’ve seen firsthand what happens when schools are underfunded. Students lose options. Programs disappear. Opportunities shrink. And the children who suffer most are the ones who need the most support.
Monroe has worked hard to provide students with strong academics, activities, and opportunities that help them succeed. We should not allow those opportunities to erode.
I also served on the Monroe School District School Board, and I understand the responsibility of balancing budgets while still doing what is best for students. This referendum is not about extras — it’s about maintaining quality education and protecting the opportunities that make Monroe a great place to live and raise a family.
Our children deserve strong schools. Our community deserves a strong future.
Vote YES for the Monroe School District referendum.
