VanLaeys: Any concerning patterns?
Letter To The Editor

From Mark VanLaeys

To the Editor:

When we encounter a politician, it’s only natural to search for deficits or attributes that align with our biases and agendas. But what if we were to objectively consider glaring patterns and trajectories instead of focusing on isolated attributes or missteps? What would a rational, unbiased person think of these candidates?

In the case of Kamala Harris, the current vice-president has an established record of agreeing with President Biden but is submissive to him by definition. She’s optimistic about America’s future and demonstrably level-headed. Though clearly liberal, few of the documented words or actions of her campaign seem extreme.

Tim Walz, her VP pick, with the exception of a 2018 false reference to the use of his assault rifle “in war,” is a stalwart guy. He is a former teacher, football coach and US congressman with 24 years of military service in the National Guard.

Donald Trump is an angry, convicted felon and billionaire. His modus-operandi is endless whining, lying, and the spewing of  negativity. Even with the best lawyers money can buy, he’s been convicted of sexual assault by a juried trial. He is arguably senile and has stated he wants to be a dictator.

His VP choice is J.D. Vance, an honorably discharged  Marine and “never Trump guy.” The Yale graduate, venture capitalist, author and senator is notorious for previously referring to Trump as “a moral disaster, an idiot, and maybe America’s Hitler.” He clearly suggests men should control women.

Please fact-check me. Any concerning patterns?
