Vance: We need to fight to have the rich pay their fair share
Letter To The Editor

From Diana Vance

Monroe

To the Editor:

Since 2009, that is for 15 years, a state aid deficit here in Wisconsin has been going on depriving our schools for the aid (money) they should be receiving and it is way past time for our Senator Howard Marklein to explain why.

He makes sure that all the nice things like honors from Klondike Cheese, or important persons at the park his family has been going will get roads and bathrooms but not specifics like how much road and how many toilets. But that information is in stories 10 or more paragraphs long. He also had a 10-paragraph story when he went to see our famous architect’s home.

All those are magazine stories and he is getting a lot of free news where news about our schools should be front page news at least every time our kids put on a play, who the director is and other school persons involved in it.

The cheese industry and our farmers deserve stories. But so do more stories so tax payers see what our kids are doing. Perhaps parents and tax payers will feel good about the extra money the state asks from ALL schools in Wisconsin when they read more often stories about their children in school.

In those past 15 years more and more tax money is going to private schools and it has grown so now we pay hundreds of millions every year. Curriculums in private schools can be exactly what they want to prepare their children for — languages so he can become an ambassador for example.

The unfairness between our two school systems better be addressed now. It is time for the privileged to stop getting more privileges from state compensated elected senators who have forgotten the reasons for WHY they were elected.
