To the Editor:
I was asked if I thought Donald Trump should go to prison. Yes, he was our president, but he handled the post so badly he must be punished with jail time. He must be removed physically to keep him from continuing all of his misinformation. His lies almost murdered a democracy by dividing Americans.
In fact, I think he was an insult to the office of the president of the United States. We are a nation of people with values, great ideas, solving huge problems like climate change and helping Americans who were hurt so badly by the COVID pandemic.
Mr. Trump’s handling of COVID demonstrated his ego was always put in front of the camera. This dire need to always be the “star” commanded him to tell Americans to “inject bleach” to rid themselves of COVID.
He is a pathological liar, according to Harvard psychiatrist Dr. Lodes. Donald Trump drills the airwaves with lies and leads good Americans to join a cult where they refuse to accept other views. His words and their repetition are right out of Mein Kampf, Hitler’s book.
He also controlled and sent tons of information to us that was false. And then in 2020, he lied when he said the presidency was stolen from him. Then he used that lie to bring his supporters to the capital and try to overthrow the counting of electoral votes for president. He wanted Mike Pence killed.
The man yearns to be the star and salivates when thinking about being dictator, and of course, “king.” His political beliefs are directly away from democracy and towards dictatorship.
At the end of his presidency, Donald Trump took classified documents to his home in Mar-a-Lago. He read them and told nuclear secrets contained in them to a man from Australia, who told 45 other people. This one incident was described as a nightmare for the people and our country. Donald Trump did not care. He just wanted to impress the man. With ALL the secrets a president is told on a daily basis, that kind of poor judgment makes him ready for prison in my mind. He should be removed from the public so he cannot do more harm with his wagging tongue, and the wrongness that accompanies every action he takes. He now is called the first demagogue our country has ever had. I pray it will be the last.
