Vance: Think of the kids in school
Letter To The Editor

From Diana Vance

Monroe

To the Editor:

Would many people calm down and before you go to the school’s meeting, read what I researched.

Property taxes came out in December and the referendum was held in November 2022. The school board estimated the property tax burden that is the usual for Monroe and outlying areas. There is no way anyone could have guessed the property tax could have climbed to 13.8% across the state, which is the highest increase since 1985. COVID-19 was another first and homes were not being built during it so demand for already built homes was very high. So let’s be fair. Prepare to listen Wednesday night to what these people have spent five years preparing for. If you stop what they are doing, it will cost $2 million dollars to start again. Please think of each other and the kids in the new school. I will have a new letter one month from now. I promise it will reveal who the real culprits are.
