To the Editor:
I read persons who raise me up. And this time it was 13 year old Anne Frank. She was a Jewish girl hiding in a factory during World War II. Someone gave her a diary for her 13th birthday.
There she wrote her thoughts and I saw she was unselfish, thoughtful of others before herself and believed in the innate goodness of mankind. She also wrote she would never give up her values.
When in my last letter I wrote about the strength of the human spirit that is what I was writing about. Under the most difficult situation, Anne Frank believed so many good things were still something she believed in and I think if she had been a soldier her strong beliefs would have enabled her to fight to preserve them as we have seen so many military do.
That tells me their human spirit was strong. And that is what Donald Trump tries to destroy. Because if he can he will destroy what is the essence of our being — yes who we are. It is the driving force behind our actions.
Under Donald Trump we still will be people, but we will be weak. It is our beliefs, our spirituality that makes us strong. I am not talking about any one religion but the belief we have in something greater than ourselves. How that affects your strength, that is something you will have to think about.
We are going very deep. But people like Donald Trump who have no values try to destroy that in you because that is how they win. It is a lot to understand and that is why we tell children to “Be good.” Doing that is very important.
