To the Editor:
Saturday, there were “No Kings” rallies across our nation. It was the most successful thus far and included over 8 million participants from all walks of life and every political background.
I was pleased to see responsible-thinking people oppose a presidential felon and child molester’s destruction of our democracy. This despite the blessing of so many in power who, in the past, demonstrated their loathing for this grifter president.
We are now stuck in a war of Trumps making. No realistic reasons for starting it and no strategy to end it. No one was consulted: we the people, congress, any historian worth his/her salt. No one! This war will escalate. It has already spilled into neighboring countries, all of which have histories of violence and animosity toward one another.
American lives and property have already been lost due to Trumps ineptness and self-serving decrees. Our munitions stockpile is being depleted. The military-industrial complex is ecstatic over this fact. That means more money for war and less for improvements at home: infrastructure, educational support, food and shelter for our veterans, for the impoverished, and others in need.
Saturday’s rallies surely demonstrate that “Community is the antidote to Fear!”
