To the Editor:

Consumers spend money. Big businesses benefit. Billionaires get richer. And on it goes! If this pattern were broken for one day, do you think it would get any attention from the uberwealthy? Of course it would! This is their Achillies Heel. 

Our real power lies in the “Power of the Purse.” If we don’t buy their products, that shatters their bottom line. They need their precious money. Between protesting on street corners and withholding our money, they must pay attention. This is where “we the people” can make a huge difference. Please, continue supporting locally owned businesses whose owners you know personally. They are not the problem!

On Saturday, October 18, 2025, people across the United States will mobilize again for “No Kings Day.” A nationwide, nonviolent day of action to 1) reject the overblown influence of outside money in our daily governmental affairs, 2) to defend democratic norms, and 3) to reject authoritarianism. Citizens across all 50 states will participate in this event.

This day of action is about promoting unity and encouraging citizens from all backgrounds to stand together against threats to our democracy. Prepare your message by creating appropriate signs and make yourself heard!
