To the Editor:

I write as seasoned foreign policy practitioner, to our Somali American colleagues, neighbors and friends — indeed to all immigrant communities throughout the United States.

I sincerely thank you for making our country stronger in countless ways.

I apologize for the heinous, hateful and deranged recent rants of President Trump. I ask you to recognize that his comments are directly contrary to the views of the vast majority of true Americans.

Together, we will get through this dark chapter in American history. Please stay strong and know that you are deeply appreciated.
