To the Editor:

It seems to me that the so called “contraband” case is total overkill. Isn’t it enough that the deputy was fired and has misdemeanor charges against him? Felony charges for giving an inmate instant coffee seems out of line. Yes, the deputy broke the rules, but he lost his job. If it had been drugs or guns it would be different.
