To the Editor:
Trump wants to build a huge ballroom on the east side of the White House. It will be as big as or bigger than the White House. It has apparently been an obsession of his over 20 years that the White House needed a ballroom.
The problem is that it will destroy the asthenic and historical character of the White House.
Trump already has done away with the White House Rose Garden. He had it turned into a patio. The garden dated from 1908 during the presidency of Theodore Roosevelt when it was called the West Colonial Garden.
While few may dispute the need for a White House Ballroom, they do dispute where he wants it located. A better location would be on or along the National Mall adjacent to the White House grounds where space could be found that is reserved for cultural buildings, i.e., Smithsonian Museums, and memorials or monuments, i.e., the Vietnam War Memorial, Washington Monument, and the World War II National Memorial. Or, another location could be found adjacent to the White House grounds.
Idiot Trump and his idiot cronies have turned over responsibility to the states the forecasting of severe storm warnings and disaster relief.
These morons just do not get it. Meteorology is a science, and science is something they do not believe in or have respect for. What they don’t get is that severe storm systems that result in flooding, hurricanes and tornadoes do not respect state lines, nor international boundaries.
The result is the flooding disaster in the Guadalupe River valley in Texas.
Like Texas. or other Gulf states. is going to send research planes out over the Atlantic to study hurricanes before they get to the Gulf and to Texas.
The purpose of the federal government is to provide necessary services for America and the American people and not to help make the rich, big business and corporations richer by cutting government expenses to afford to give them more tax cuts.
