To the Editor:
We need federal and state consumer protection laws that forces manufactures and retailers to stand behind the products they produce and/or sell.
For computers, this should be at least ten years.
Customers should not have to purchase warranties and to have pay every year to renew the warranty.
If the manufacture and/or retailer doesn’t take a complaint seriously or not work with the customer, they should be fined $10,000. If they screw around concerning a complaint for as long as Apple and Best Buy concerning my computer and Charter Communications concerning its censorship and the Charter Guide have with me, they should be fined $100,000. If they make a habit of it, they should be fined $1 million.
Also, Trump wants to build a huge ballroom on the east side of the White House. It will be as big as or bigger than the White House. It has apparently been an obsession of his over 20 years that the White House needed a ballroom.
The problem is that it will destroy the asthenic and historical character of the White House.
Trump already has done away with the White House Rose Garden. He had it turned into a patio. The garden dated from 1908 during the presidency of Theodore Roosevelt when it was called the West Colonial Garden.
While few may dispute the need for a White House Ballroom, they do dispute where he wants it located. A better location would be on or along the National Mall adjacent to the White House grounds where space could be found that is reserved for cultural buildings, i.e., Smithsonian Museums, and memorials or monuments, i.e., the Vietnam War Memorial, Washington Monument and the World War II National Memorial. Or, another location could be found adjacent to the White House grounds.
Republicans are demanding that Canada stop the unhealthy smoke that has polluted the air of several states. They are suggesting tariffs if Canada does not comply.
The wildfires are a result of climate change that is a result of Republicans opposing environmental laws and their support of fossil fuels industries. They need to look in the mirror to see who is to blame.
