Searles: Make Daylight Savings Time permanent before November
Letter To The Editor

From Dave Searles

Brodhead

To the Editor:

It was time change the clocks again and go from Standard Time to Daylight Savings Time. Hopefully, before November, Congress will finally pass legislation that will make Daylight Savings Time permanent year round.

Standard Time year round, especially in the winter just goes against common sense and is just plain stupid. Virtually everyone is up and about in the late afternoon and most people are still in bed or eating breakfast in the early morning. Mainly for safety reasons, but also for health reasons, we need the light in the late afternoon and not in the early morning.

Unfortunately, this comes mainly down to politics. Mostly Democrats favor making Daylight Savings Time permanent, while mainly Republicans want make Standard Time permanent. Trump, though, said while president, that if Congress passed legislation that made Daylight Savings Time permanent that he would sign it.
