From Bill Ross
Monroe
To the Editor:
As a former mayor of Monroe I had the privilege to serve with Alderperson Tom Miller during my tenure. I respected him for his transparency, intelligence and his commitment to the city for the common good. Whether at committee meetings or the common council, Tom always spoke up for what he thought was right for the city which earned him respect from the other alders as well as the mayor.
Through his many years of experience being on the city council, Tom knows what it takes to be the mayor and the duties and responsibilities that entails to keep the city running smoothly. Not only working with the alders and city department heads for responsible budgeting, such as keeping taxes in check, but the mayor is also the liaison spokesperson for the media and public. The mayor is the “go to” person for managing responses to any local emergencies or city crisis that may occur. Tom is not afraid to hear citizen complaints with due respect to the complainant for resolution.
When I think of Tom Miller I see a man of transparency, personal responsibility and ethical decision making. He is a man who stands behind his convictions but at the same time is open-minded when it comes to the common good for the city. I whole heartily endorse Tom Miller for mayor, and I hope to see you all at the polls on April 7th. Thank you.
