From Kevin Lollock

Monroe

To the Editor:

As a proud resident of Monroe, I am honored to be a candidate for mayor. Our city is rich in diversity, brimming with opportunity, and full of potential. My campaign is built on four key pillars: Unifying the Community, Fiscal Responsibility, Non-Partisan Leadership, and Revitalized Growth.

A Community-First Approach:

Local government should reflect the community it serves. As mayor, I will make City Hall accessible to every resident, maintaining an open-door policy to listen, engage, and respond to concerns. Diverse perspectives will guide decision-making, and transparency will be a cornerstone of my administration. City committee outcomes will be shared publicly in an easily accessible manner, and regular forums will foster open dialogue between leaders and residents. Monroe deserves a mayor who listens, acts with integrity, and ensures every resident feels connected to the decisions shaping our city.

Fiscal Responsibility:

Every dollar spent must be an investment in Monroe’s future. By managing our budget carefully, eliminating waste, and prioritizing essential services, we can create a prosperous and sustainable city. Fiscal responsibility is about making smart, strategic decisions every day that benefit our community in the long term.

Economic Growth and Revitalization:

Economic expansion is key to unlocking Monroe’s potential. By looking to attract investment in growth sectors like technology, healthcare, and logistics, we can position Monroe as a hub of innovation. Promoting Monroe as a premier tourism destination will boost our economy and highlight our city’s unique charm.

Addressing housing challenges is critical. With only 14 new housing units added annually since 2000, this limits opportunities for families and individuals to call Monroe home. The gap between rising home values and median income has also made housing increasingly unattainable for many. We must prioritize solutions to ensure Monroe remains affordable and welcoming for all.

Reversing Monroe’s population decline requires enhancing our community’s appeal to attract new residents and businesses. The rich resources of our community services should not be compromised in any way. Supporting our senior citizens is equally critical, ensuring they thrive and continue shaping Monroe’s future.

Non-Partisan, Common Sense Leadership:

Lastly, partisan politics has no place in city government. Our focus must always be on what’s best for our community. I am ready to lead with integrity and work tirelessly to make Monroe a city we are all proud to call home.

I would be honored to receive your vote on April 7th.
