To the editor:
I am writing in response to the front-page story in the September 26, 2018 Monroe Times entitled “Gov. Walker awards $7 million in broadband grants.” Rural Wisconsin is acutely aware of the lack of access to high speed internet.
However, in 2011, Walker gave back $23 million in stimulus funds which was intended for broadband expansion saying it was not in the best interest of Wisconsin. In reality, it was in the best interest of his big telecommunication donors. Now that he is facing a tight race to be re-elected he somehow finds $7 million dollars for broadband internet.
Walker does not care what is in the best interest for Wisconsin, he is only interested in what is in the best interest of Walker.
