To the Editor:
Ho hum.... An August primary with no contested races. Why bother to vote?
Alert! Constitutional amendments are on the ballot again. These would give the legislature, instead of the governor, the authority to distribute federal funds. A lot of this money is for emergencies. A governor can act quickly.
If floods or tornadoes hit your community, do you want to wait until the legislature comes into session and wrangles about how exactly to spend the federal funds?
The legislature wants to push through this power grab in a sleepy election.
Wake up! Vote on August 13. Vote NO.
Thank you.
