To the editor:

We are in a crisis of truth in our country. President Trump has successfully broken down the wall between reality and whatever is convenient politically not only for himself, but also for an increasing number of prominent Republican lawmakers.

One of the ways he does it is by using propaganda. I know you all know the four phrases he uses most — witch hunt, hoax, fake news and enemy of the people. He repeats them every time he has a chance to use them and what is happening is the destruction of the free press.

The result is that 46 percent of people believe major national news organizations fabricate stories about him. We are witnessing the death of the truth in our country in the hands of President Donald Trump. Look how the Republicans led by President Trump voted to confirm Brett Kavanaugh who refused to tell the senators how he stood on presidential power and his reaction to the testimony of Dr. Blasey Ford. His uncontrolled temperament stood out in plain view.

In Professor Timothy Snyder’s book “On Tyranny” he says in one chapter people must Stand Out! “Someone has to,” he writes. It is easy to follow along says this professor from Yale. “But without that unease there is no freedom,” he writes and then uses Rosa Parks as an example. Then he writes “The moment you set an example, the spell of the status quo is broken and others will follow.”

Another example is Winston Churchill in World War II.  He helped the British to define themselves as a proud people who would calmly resist evil. A few days ago President Trump said the Democrats are evil. This to me is one of his worst lies. He lies easily and often.

President Trump made an apology from the people to Brett Kavanaugh. I am one of the people and I am not going to apologize to Brett Kavanaugh. Democrats on the Judiciary committee did nothing to apologize for. We must be concerned with what is true and what is false.

Lastly remember the following quotes. “And ye shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free.”

Don’t think what President Trump is doing when he lies is harmless. “To abandon facts is to abandon freedom.”

On November 6th we will have the midterm election. Stand out and VOTE DEMOCRAT.
