Letter to the Editor: Remove those who value big money, ag
newspaper

From Jeanette Kelty

Monroe

To the editor:

On October 10th an article on the front page of the Monroe Times described ‘Saying goodbye to the farm’, “Family’s ‘pride and joy’ for more than 60 years is sold” to an “investor” in Monroe. Aleron Wasserstrass (Monticello) described that being the owner of a small family farm was “not just a job, it was a way of life.”

Wisconsin lost more than 500 dairy farms in 2017 and about 150 farmers have quit milking cows so far this year. Farmer suicide rates are up. These farmers believe they are worth more dead than alive! Many misinformed, misguided folks standing on the sidelines just chalk this up to “capitalism,” or “well times are changing that’s the way it is.”

Yes, times are changing, and NOT for the betterment of the The People of WI! It’s time to take our Democratic Republic back! (We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity,) preamble U.S. Constitution. On November 6 Wisconsinites can remove some worthless legislators who only value “Big money” and “Big agriculture” which direly affects the middle class workers of our state. Enough is enough! We need positive change in our state legislature for the common good.

Make a plan to vote on November 6 for Tony Evers for Governor, Mandela Barnes for Lt. Governor, Kriss Marion for State Senate and Jeff Wright for 51st Assembly. Our rights to land free from pollution, clean water, good roads, adequate healthcare and quality education for ourselves and our prodigy depend on it.
