Letter to the Editor: Money should go to Legion
Money Nest

From Emil (Mike) Rufener

American Legion Commander Post #256 of Monticello

To the editor:

Time to end discrimination against Veteran’s and senior citizens and to make Monticello area whole again. In order to heal, we need the $160,000 that the Village of Monticello got for the sale of the Monticello Legion Home and Senior Center, and $40,000 from buyer, so we can buy a building for the Legion, and Senior Center, and the whole community of Monticello to use.

This would keep people, and jobs, and even bring in more business and more jobs to and in Monticello. Then they won’t go to other towns for activities and this would be a place for all organizations to meet, as all the volunteer organizations do so much for Monticello Village.

We will be 100 years old in 2019 and as a Legion volunteer organization it sure would be a nice way to celebrate 100 years of volunteerism.

I have been a businessman in Monticello and Monroe area all my life.
