Letter to the Editor: Market should be ag guide
Newspaper 2

From David L. Rossing

To the editor:

Agriculture has price swings and losses in production of various products. In an economy it is gospel for one to earn an income by doing what others buy. There are many farms producing the same product which needs to be readily sold for freshness. The market is aware of changes in supply and demand of various products and sells all available products at the highest price. The market needs to be regarded as a production guide so that the farms are in line for profitable production of a product.

A farmer needs to own the land he farms to receive the income it produces. Much farmland needs to be zoned for agriculture. Speculators foster higher land prices which are costly for agricultural use.
