Letter to Editor: Know your class and vote
Letter To The Editor

From La Vern Isely

Monroe

There could be a great case made that when you become old enough to vote, it’s the most important responsibility you have. Yet, a lot of voters choose not to vote, or even listen to the candidates running to see if they represent the working class group that they live in, which consists of many different working classes, because there are a lot of different income taxes paid every year.

Some are in the $25,000 income bracket. Some are in the $50,000 bracket, even the $75,000 bracket. Some are in the $100,000 bracket and above, but all of these people get a withholding statement, called a W-2 at the end of the year, to show how much tax they already paid in. So, when you make out your income tax, you know what your responsibility is. If you have interest income, you receive a Form 1099-INT. You could get both of these forms as you work your way through your working years.

Now, when it comes to voting, which party represents the working class – the Democrats or the Republicans? Since everybody should have a good education to be able to write a letter in their local newspaper, they should do so. Just like I’m doing and a good friend of mine, John Waelti, does, who writes great articles concerning what is going on with our elected officials.

There’s a big, big problem going on with our Republican president, Donald Trump, because the Democratic Party, who controls the House of Representatives, feels that Donald Trump became so corrupt that he is representing only his views when it comes to which working class he represents. Since he’s a billionaire, he is definitely working for that class as an individual. He has also lowered the federal income tax on corporations, which has created the fastest growing debt in the history of our country.

There have been public hearings on TV concerning President Trump’s impeachment, which just about every network on TV covered, which I thought was fascinating. The sad part was, though, some of my friends said they didn’t even watch, which gets me to wonder — do they even vote? If they didn’t even listen, are they voting for the right party? That is — the working class or the billionaire class?

You are going to hear a lot more of this because the Democrats are going to go for a full impeachment.
