To the Editor:
I’m writing to provide important information concerning the Monroe City Council’s action on water fluoridation. At its October 21 meeting, on a 5-4 vote the Council decided to end fluoridation of the City’s water. The Council‘s Judiciary and Ordinance Committee was directed to repeal the ordinance requiring water fluoridation. The repeal will then go back to the full Council for a final vote, before which another public hearing on the issue will be held. Unlike the first public hearing, only Monroe City residents and businesses will be allowed to speak. As the Council’s final action could come as soon as late November or early December, the time is short for those on both sides of the issue to have their voices heard.
