King: Thankful for school listening sessions, presentations on referendum
letter to the editor stock

From Stephanie King

Monroe

To the Editor:

I would like to recognize the School District of Monroe for the many opportunities it has provided for community members to learn about the operational referendum that will appear on the April 7 ballot. Through multiple listening sessions and public presentations, the District has made a genuine effort to clearly explain why additional operational funding is being requested and how these decisions impact our schools and community.

Attending a presentation helped me better understand the deeper challenges within Wisconsin’s school funding structure, as well as the very real impact inflation has had on the District’s budget. Most importantly, it clarified what is at stake for Monroe if the operational referendum does not pass. Too much is at stake to not be informed when you go to the polls on April 7.

I encourage residents of Monroe to take the time to become informed. Consider attending one of the upcoming listening sessions in March, visiting the School District of Monroe’s website to view the recorded presentation, reviewing the FAQ, and following the District’s social media channels for additional information. Follow the Informed Voters for Monroe Schools on Facebook.

An informed community is essential when making decisions that shape the future of our schools and our community. I am certain that after reviewing all the information, our community will come together and vote ‘Yes’ on April 7.
