Kerr: Trump is demonstrating why many did not want him to be President again
Letter To The Editor

From Roger Kerr

Boscobel

To the Editor:

In 2024, many top Republicans, including former Vice President Dick Cheney, encouraged Americans not to vote for Donald Trump. It didn’t work. Trump is clearly demonstrating why they did not want him to be President again. A few examples are as follows:

1. Immigrants (both legal and illegal) do a lot of work that most citizens do not want to do, such as butchering chickens, pigs, and cattle, picking crops that require bending over, milking cows, and doing heavy construction work. Is it in America’s best interest for ICE agents to be arresting some of these people and then deporting them? Not in my opinion. Most Americans view this as “going too far.” Indeed, it is “going too far.”

2. Trump asked Texas to “gerrymander” its voting areas so that more Republicans could get elected to the U.S. Congress. Texas complied. Shame on both Trump and Texas for doing this. It is not in the public interest and is illegal.

3. Trump’s Justice Department is suing California for “gerrymandering” its voting areas to favor Democrats. The only reason California got involved was that Texas had done it first. Why take California to court but not Texas? The reason is that Democrats run California, and Republicans run Texas.

4. Trump has no problem with the killing of small boat operators in the Caribbean Sea without proof that they are engaged in illegal activity. Our ally (Great Britain) is so disturbed by this that they are no longer giving us information about boat traffic in the Caribbean.

5. Trump now wants Epstein files released after doing everything he could to keep them from being released. His MAGA buddies wanted them released, so he did a complete reversal. This is in the public interest.

6. Trump has a “mean streak” that he can’t control. When someone asks a question that he doesn’t like, he berates that person. Shameful, shameful conduct on his part.

On the positive side, prominent MAGA person Marjorie Taylor Greene has come to regret her nasty behavior in support of Trump. She now wants political people to be kind to each other. Good for her. This too is in the public interest.
