To the Editor:

I am pleased to endorse Matt Sheaffer for reelection to the Monroe City Council. I know Matt to be a thoughtful and caring citizen who generously gives his time and expertise in the service of our community.

I first met Matt when his family hosted an AFS exchange student from Indonesia in 2022. His generosity and genuine embrace of cultural diversity are rooted in his own experiences as an exchange student in Ecuador and Paraguay. This global perspective informs his approach to public service and strengthens his ability to consider initiatives that benefit the entire community.

Through my interactions with Matt, his responses at the candidate forum, and his explanation of the upcoming elections published in The Monroe Times, it is clear that he possesses both a deep understanding of the issues and the ability to communicate his ideas effectively.

I encourage you to support Matt Sheaffer for city council alderperson in the upcoming Monroe election on April 7.
