To the Editor:
The people of South-Central Wisconsin are the voices of rural America and we have had enough. On Saturday, March 28th, the citizens of this country will join together in protests at over 2,400 locations for NO KINGS! In South-Central Wisconsin activists will lead a No Kings Protest Tour.
We will be voicing our disapproval of the Trump administration and reclaiming the democratic principles that have been the basis of this government for nearly 250 years. There will be protests throughout the day at 5 different locations — Belleville, New Glarus, Mount Horeb, Albany, and Monroe.
● Belleville — 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. along Highway 92 near the entrance to the Community Park
● New Glarus — 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. along Highway 69 at the stoplight
● Mount Horeb — 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Mount Horeb Liberty Park Shelter, 1201 Cox Drive
● Albany — 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. along Highway 59 on the bridge over the Sugar River
● Monroe — 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on the south side of the Courthouse Square
Rural Americans have paid for tariffs and have had their health and medical coverage terminated. SNAP (supplemental nutrition) funding has been reduced. Tariffs threaten the economic stability of our country. The President imposed a chaotic and haphazard slew of tariffs, creating massive uncertainty and lost opportunities for small and large businesses. In 2025, farm economies sold fewer crops at lower prices.
Our rights are being taken from us in front of our very eyes. Our silence becomes permission.
“Find your torch. Not the loudest voice in the room, but your voice. Not someone else’s fight, but your role in it. Civic engagement isn’t always big and dramatic. Sometimes it’s steady. Local. Consistent. History moves when ordinary people decide to carry their light. Find yours.” — Heather Cox Richardson
