Goldsworthy: Lost wallet, good people
Letter To The Editor

From George Goldsworthy

To the Editor:

Friday afternoon, Sept. 10 was a beautiful time for lunch outside. A good time to go to Baumgartner’s and have a Swiss on rye, cup of chili and a spotted cow.

I sat outside having my meal, reading a catalog, watching people and enjoying the day.

After about 40 min. I paid the clerk (Kyle), who used a credit card device at my table, I signed with my fingernail (good luck) and left. Drove home feeling full and happy.

I got out of the car and checked my pocket for my wallet, NO WALLET — WOW!

I looked all over the car (twice) still no wallet. I went in the house to call Baumgartner’s. He went outside, checked around my table and where my car had been parked. No wallet.

Now what to do. I hung up the phone and opened my file drawer and pulled a folder that I made sometime ago, containing a photo copy of credit cards, driver’s license etc.

Boy, I thought that was smart. Now I have all the numbers I need to call those on the list.

I was just ready to call my credit card company but hesitated because I knew what a hassle that would be.

So, I drove back to Baumgartner’s and went inside. There was Kyle with my wallet. It was a thank you Jesus’ moment.

Kyle said someone had tuned it in. Either one of the school kids walking by, one of the hard-working gents at the next table or a waitress.

No matter what you hear on the media, the world is filled with good people and Monroe has its share.
