Field: Local health providers key in first COVID battle
letter to the editor stock

From Carrie & Linda Field

Monroe

To the Editor:

It finally happened. My mom and I let our guard down, and we caught Covid at the same time. We were able to avoid it these past 5 years and we’re both fully vaccinated, but we got cocky and stopped masking up in enclosed spaces. For me, it was like a bad cold. Annoying, but not too bad. However, for my 76 year old mom, it became pneumonia in less than 24 hours, and sepsis soon after that. We both know how lucky she was that she didn’t die.

A huge reason that my mom didn’t pass away is because of the medical professionals here in Monroe. We wanted to thank everyone who helped us: the nice woman who answered my 911 call, Green County EMS, the nurses and doctors at Monroe Hospital, and the great staff at Pleasant View Nursing Home. We will never forget everything you did for my mom.

Please remember, the Covid virus has not gone away. Masking up is annoying, but it really could save your life.

Thank you.
