Donovan: Neighbors Helping Neighbors
Letter To The Editor

From Paul Donovan

Monroe

To the Editor:

I am a citizen deeply concerned with the state of our country and the loss of values we have championed since the beginning in America.

I am writing this letter to you to encourage others to rethink what it means to be an American in rethinking of the value of neighbors helping neighbors.

Growing up in a less than encouraging household I never fully understood the value of knowing my neighbors and how much can be accomplished when we help each other. It wasn’t until my relationship with my family fell apart that I learned the true importance of knowing my neighbors and developing friendships. American has thrived on the values of helping one another back to the indians helping the pilgrims in 1620 where their survival depended on the help of the indians. Throughout our history from the first settlers, to the building of the railroads to surviving the great depression we have looked upon another in times of need in embracing our christian heritage of loving one another. Throughout the last 9 decades we have fallen from those values slowly as we have surrendered them in replacement of government assistance and focusing on our wants over the needs of others. We are now in culture of death and darkness and only when we let the shine will our times brighten. One of the ways to brighten our times is to learn to love on another. To love one another is to start loving our neighbors as ourselves. In doing that we will get to know another and start strengthening the bonds in our community.

Think of all the lonely people today and the abortions that take place every day. When neighbors get to know one another they can do more to help one another. In the long run think of the differences that can be made to help improve a neighbors life and maybe even safe an unborn life from being aborted.

I Thank You for giving me the opportunity to encourage a revival in the value of neighbors help neighbors.
