Colstad: Phillipson dedicated to all in county
Letter To The Editor

From John and Sandy Colstad

New Glarus

To the Editor,

On April 6, all Green County voters will have the opportunity to gain a highly qualified, empathetic, and hard-working judge for the Green County Circuit Court, Branch 1, and we wholeheartedly endorse Faun Marie Phillipson.

Faun is one of our former students from two different levels and she exhibited an aptitude for leadership, comprehension of complex issues, and determination from an early age, along with the attributes of making every effort for her accomplishments, accepting challenges with grace and patience, and working cooperatively with others. We have been proud watching her excel in school, then earning first her bachelor’s degree at UW-Madison and then her law degree in New York City. She exhibited the determination to start her own successful law firm in New York City, the fulfillment of which allowed her to return to her Green County roots and establish another office in New Glarus, where she has been for over a decade.

In addition to her impressive resume, Faun has practiced law for 20 years in multiple districts of multiple states all over the country, in roles on each side of the aisle in the courtroom, culminating in a wide range of perspectives and understanding of the application of law that she will bring to Green County in a rapidly changing and connected world.

You would think that such a successful young woman would not have much time for much else, but Faun makes the time to give back to the community in which she was born and raised; as a former board member of the New Glarus Public Library and the Swiss Center of North America, and a current board member of the New Glarus Bank and its branches. She also serves on the Bank’s Audit Committee and Personnel Committee. Faun volunteers for the Green County Literacy Council, teaching adults one-on-one to read, write, and speak English — something that makes us as retired teachers especially proud. Faun is also highly active with New Glarus High School students as a coach for Mock Trial along with Dan Gartzke.

Faun has run a non-partisan campaign because it is a non-partisan election and a non-partisan position. Faun has the qualities you want in a judge: impartial, a breadth and depth of experience, even-keeled and balanced perspective, and dedicated to ALL Green County residents.

Vote for Faun Marie Phillipson as Circuit Court Judge, Branch 1 on April 6!
